RX promotes Jamie Harrison as new global head of digital product development
RX has announced Jamie Harrison's promotion to global head of digital product development, expanding his role beyond product development to include digital innovation, customer insights and commercial product opportunities.
Harrison previously served as senior vice president of product development, leading RX's global product development operations. In his new position, he will oversee the company's digital product portfolio and strategic direction of its digital ecosystem.
The promotion reflects RX's focus on digital transformation and data-driven solutions. Harrison will lead efforts to develop new digital products, support existing events and identify opportunities beyond traditional event models.
"I'm excited to be stepping into this next phase of RX's digital journey," Harrison said. "Our team has worked hard to deliver event products, and now we're broadening our ambition."
Brian Brittain, RX's chief operating officer, said Harrison's experience positions him to lead the company's digital initiatives. "By constantly engaging our customers to define their needs, we create the digital solutions to match," Brittain said.
Under Harrison's leadership, RX has developed digital tools supporting event registration, matchmaking, content delivery and analytics. His expanded responsibilities include developing new digital propositions and supporting customer engagement beyond traditional event timeframes.
Technology companies including Oracle, Salesforce and SAP are moving away from single flagship developer conferences to multi-city regional tours, according to a new report from event agency Opus.
Oracle expanded its Dev Tour to Las Vegas, Bengaluru, Berlin and São Paulo, while Salesforce broadened its TDX event to include stops in Bengaluru, Tokyo and London. Redis launched tours across 18 cities including San Francisco, London, Dubai and Singapore.
The shift stems from post-pandemic behavior changes among developer audiences, who now prefer local events over long-distance travel. Companies report teams sending 5-10 people to regional events compared to 1-2 attendees for central flagship conferences.
"We're in a second wave of regionalization, especially for builder and technical events," the Opus report states. Developer audiences face budget constraints that limit international travel and demonstrate reluctance to gather in large, centralized groups.
The report identifies Bengaluru, Singapore, Dubai, London and Toronto as emerging hotspots for developer events, representing markets with high technology adoption rates outside North America.
"The world's most dynamic economies and fastest technology adoption curves are no longer concentrated in North America," the report notes. Rising nationalism and economic protectionism favor brands that demonstrate local commitment through physical presence.
Opus recommends companies define clear business goals for each event type and leverage global teams with regional expertise. The agency notes that flagship events focus on closing deals and loyalty, while regional events prove more effective for pipeline acceleration.
The UFI Global Congress, where exhibition leaders worldwide gather, is reporting strong international participation, with attendees from 39 countries already confirmed. Have you booked your spot?
